Smucker's Uncrustables Peanut Butter

These Smucker's Uncrustables Peanut  Butter were half off the sale price in my local freezer section. I can see why. Without jelly these thing aren't that great.

They really need something to boost the flavor. I'll grant that may not have to be jelly but spice or something may just make them less bland and more palatable.

Then, they stick to your mouth. If you haven't got something to drink with them they will clog up your pie hole. Overall, they aren't a fun eating experience.

Add in the fact that if you  don't keep them frozen they dry out fast and are not a quick snack at home and you've got something only worth tossing in your lunch when you have no time to make food.

I think you can make these at home and freeze them for less and get something better.

Carl's Jr. Sausage Egg & Cheese Biscuit

There was a time that morning would come and a mom would ask “what should I do with these biscuits?” If they were stale you would cover them with gravy and feed them to your hungry farmers like that, but if the family needed to get on the road and fast you’d fill one with breakfast foods and send them on their way.

At Carl’s Jr. You can get both of these relics of a bygone era, and this was the Sausage and Egg with cheese version. Cheese wouldn’t have been in the early version I would think.

Anyway, this is on the dry side and I wouldn’t call it something to talk about. If a biscuit is what you want to start your day this is your jam.

Alfaro's Bakery Sausage Rolls

“Hey, boss, someone spilled flour on these hot dog buns. What should I do?”

“No problem, Lenny, just mark them sausage rolls and send them out. We can charge more for um that way.”

That’s what I think of these Alfaro's Bakery Sausage Rolls. In honesty I didn’t have them with sausage but I would note that they are lighter than most hot dog buns but wouldn’t hold up well to a real sausage.

These are fine, but you need to know that you’re going to use them before you buy them. They aren’t that versatile.

Albertsons Sugar Jumbo Cookies

Being a big fat dude I often go to the discount baking rack at Albertson’s and these Jumbo Sugar Cookies are on sale. I think they’re just dandy. I don’t know why I would call them dandy but they are too soft for coffee dipping and they do look a bit fabulous.

These aren’t my favorite cookies to get at Albertson’s but they do brighten my day.

Pioneer Chicken Spicy Rice

If you're in Bell Gardens or LA you may just decide to take in some local color from Pioneer Chicken. It was once all over Southern California but is now down to just two establishments.

If you do walk in you may think that rather than the old french fries you may want some spicy rice. Well, that would be a great idea because the rice is spicy enough to be called spicy and is full of flavor and chunks of chicken.

I have to admit I started crying when I was eating this but then I think it's because I was thinking of my late mother who was the last person to take me to Pioneer Chicken as a boy.  Time is a real pain in the tail.

Banza Rigatoni

Banza Rigatoni is what you eat when you want to have pasta but don't want to look like me. I love this brand of pasta because I love chickpeas and would eat them all the time if I had the time to make them.

My life is so full, and I am so fat.

The Olde Ship Samosas

Served with Mango Chutney The Olde Ship 'Samosas' are kind of like thick wantons filled with chick peas. I have to say these are an interesting food to say the least, vegetarian, and delightful.

Be aware that the flaky outer layer will brake and the contents may spill. Order for a party no larger than four or order more than one plate. I would buy these again.

Pho-Ology Rocket Shrimp

Pho-Ology Rocket Shrimp is something of a new take on fried shrimp only instead of battering them you wrap them in rice paper. I have to say I liked these. I'm not sure I like them more than the more traditional American shrimp but they were something new.

All in all, if you have a small party and you go to Pho-Ology then get these because they're good. Pricy for what you get but good.

Duke's Chili Cheese Fries

Duke's Chili Cheese Fries look little like their image on the menu and that's kind of a good thing given what that image looks like. Still, I didn't care for these. They were passable and nothing more.
If you have a look at the menu you can see that the chili cheese fries look much larger and more chili and are made of plastic. I'm not sure which I would want more, because neater look all that great.

Firehouse Subs Firehouse Meatball

Firehouse Subs Firehouse Meatball is bigger and meatier than the subway version. I can't say that it's as good because the one I had the meatballs were cold in the middle. I will say that it was more filling, but as it comes with a bigger price tag I think it's all about the same in the end.

Kit Kat Dark

Well, it won’t kill you like a normal Kit Kat so it’s better, way better, but it will still make you fat. I will say that my life is more complete now that I’ve eaten these things.

Nestlé’s Crunch

This second stringer in the world of candy bars is the kind of thing I don’t mind having sit around after a holiday. This is because I can say no to them. So, on the one hand you’re still slowly killing yourself with candy and on the other you’re killing yourself just a hair slower. You make the call.

Buffalo Wild Wings Roasted Garlic Mushrooms

Buffalo Wild Wings Roasted Garlic Mushrooms

The best part of my meal at Buffalo Wild Wings, that’s not saying much, Roasted Garlic Mushrooms were breaded. This makes me want to ask how they can be roasted if they’re breaded. I mean, why not call them Breaded Garlic Mushrooms?

Still, they were crispy on the outside and moist on the inside. They were nothing like the other food there that gave me indigestion.

Buffalo Wild Wings Bar and Grill (City of Industry)

So, my brother decided he wanted me to take him to this place for his birthday. As he has never been a fan of crowds or American Football I was surprised. The place is like Hooters without the hooters. So it’s kind of like having game night with the boys, but the wife isn’t manning the kitchen.

I can’t complain about the low lighting or load TV, because those things come with a wing joint. The fact that a hot girl sat us then some dude served was a disappointment.

Then the service was so bad that another server came and asked us if we had been helped. I got one refill on my soda and was forced to sulk in silence as none could rightly carry a conversation in a place like this grill.

Take my advice, kids, make your hot wings in the microwave and save yourself some time.

Baileys Original Irish Cream

Baileys hasn’t been around that long. In fact, it was first marketed in 1974. I believe I first drank it in two thousand ten or there abouts. I recall spending some time at a fellow’s house who had been put into mandatory retirement from IBM, and, being well to do, he drank the good stuff to celebrate/lament his joblessness.  I tried Baileys for the first time strait, warm, and in sad company.

Under these bad conditions the drink still made an impression, and I suggested it to my brother who, loving his spirits, eventually tried some and fell in love.

On the rocks, Baileys has a smooth sipping flavor that gets a bit overwhelming if you gulp. With coffee add less sugar than if you’re drinking coffee with cream. The fat in the Baileys will bind to the caffeine and make your high last longer. The cream fat will also make the alcohol last longer.

I should point out that caffeine and alcohol are bad together, and if you intent to get blasted this is not for you. Get blasted with crap and you will feel like crap. Get blasted with the good stuff and you will likely die.

Baileys: yes, drinking like a mentally deficient high-school-er: no.

First Street Thirst Puncher Lemonade

First Street Thirst Puncher Lemonade -tastes like someone tried to make lemonade in a laboratory without any lemons.
