Anna's Pizza Individual Garden Salad

Anna's Pizza in West Covina California is one of those places that just never gets enough love. The lines are always short and the food is always good. 

Now, this is a garden salad and it's more or less what you have to pick at before your real food shows up. That being said it comes with a good amount of cheese and dressing. If you want to eat what food eats then this is a great option. 

Muscle Monster Vanilla

When I saw that monster had a protein shake out there my first thought was 'this has got to be nasty', but I tried it anyway and these suckers are okay. They don't taste chalky or anything like that.

Now, lets be clear that I'm a real caffeine addict and Monster has been my go to for years. Still, if I ever go to the gym again I'll drink me one of these. 

Bundaberg Root Beer

So if it comes from Australia are they legally required to put a kangaroo on it? I mean, lots of cool stuff in Australia and all we hear about is Kangaroos. 

In any case, Bundaberg Root Beer has a unique fruit flavor that kind of reminds me of guava. I can't really tell if I like it or not because I didn't get enough of these to get used to it. 

All in all, these are an expensive root beer that isn't better than A&W. Stick with the classic on this one unless you're just looking for a new flavor. 

Reese's Peanut Butter Cups White

Reese's Peanut Butter Cups White are one of the few things that were brown and are now white that doesn't tick people off. May I also say that Reese's of all colors are lovely and that we should celebrate diversity in chocolate. 

In any case, I don't think this is real coco butter so maybe stick to the brown ones. The black ones are also really good but the white ones disappoint. 

Pioneer Cafe Clam Chowder

I will never understand clam chowder. It was there at the Pioneer Cafe in Glendale so I ordered it and it was, well, boring. I still don't understand clam chowder. 

Fanta Pineapple

I got this Fanta Pineapple because I wanted something to drink with my red wine. I don't like red wine. Anyway, this soda is on the rich side so don't think you can drink it all day without feeling like you need to brush your teeth. The flavor is underwhelming but okay.  

Pioneer Cafe Salmon Primavera

Salmon Primavera is not on the menu at the Pioneer Cafe in Glendale, but the waitress told me about it because I'm a good customer. 

This has a strongly fish flavor but it's not bad at all. There are a number of things I'd rather order than this but this is good stuff. What am I saying? I'm not even sure. You kind of need to like Primavera to be interested in this and if you're not a Primavera fan this won't set you on it any time soon. Still, I'm glad I tried it. 

Big Jak Energy Drink (Original) Red

'Big Jack Energy Drink: Red' is a vaguely cherry flavored drink with something of a minor after taste. Stuff does the job, I will admit, it's no orange monster. Still, I've had about five of these in the last few weeks and haven't crashed from them. Not bad at a good price. 

Pioneer Cafe Grilled Ham and Cheese Sandwich

Pioneer Cafe's Grilled Ham and Cheese Sandwich feels like a light meal when I'm sure it's not. This sandwich is a great combination but eat it with a salad or die young. 

It kills me so good.

Dandy Donuts Buttermilk Maple Bar

Dandy Donuts Buttermilk Maple Bar is, well, a Buttermilk Maple Bar. I mean, it's like any one you'd get at any shop. How is it that everything tastes the same?!

Pioneer Cafe Bacon Omelette

Over at the Pioneer Cafe in Glendale you can get a nice Bacon Omelette. Well, it's just what someone would want for breakfast. I mean, omelettes are so simple that it's hard to comment on them. Fun to eat, I'll admit, but hard to comment on. 

Dandy Donuts Cinnamon Roll

Dandy Donuts is the kind of place that only takes cash and their Cinnamon Roll is a little apple tasting. I have to admit this little hole in the wall with no restroom was the only thing open at that time of the morning. Well, this was a passable cinnamon roll.

Pioneer Cafe Chili Burger

Pioneer Cafe Chili Burger is more chili than burger. It's like a whole serving of chili on top of a burger. Now, I'm not a big onion man so all the onions detract from the chili.

I had to cut the burger with a knife because the bun was so lost under that chili. Finally someone figured out how much chili to put on a burger. 

Washington Rainier Cherries

Washington Rainier Cherries are a softer cherry than the darker cherry. They have a lighter flavor as well. 

To be honest the big thing about these cherries is that they have so interesting a color making them something to liven up  a meal. 

Watch out for the pits, and eat these things. You need more natural food in your diet I say to myself. 

Pioneer Cafe New York Stake and Eggs

Perfect for the gym rat who is trying to ram as much protein down his gut as possible the Pioneer Cafe  New York Stake and Eggs is a big day starter. 

Now, let us be clear that if your going to hit the gym and pump some iron this is a great way to get the basic building blocks of Mr. Beefy, but you need vegetables to keep up the workouts. 

Otis Spunkmeyer Delicious Essentials Corn Muffin

Otis Spunkmeyer Delicious Essentials Corn Muffin is one of those things that I know I shouldn't be eating, but they are totally rocking. They came three for a dollar at the local discount store. I went back and got the last of them after I figured how good they were.   

Pioneer Cafe Corned Beef on Rye

Over at the Pioneer Cafe in Glendale you can get yourself a nice wet Corned Beef on Rye sandwich. I am beside myself in the understanding that this is how they make these across the country. I like my lunch meat grilled and not just heated. 

These have a lot of salt so they are best had with a beer...then again what isn't best had with a beer... a colonoscopy I guess. 

Kellogg's Eggo Thick & Fluffy Cinnamon Brown Sugar Waffles

Kellogg's Eggo Thick & Fluffy Cinnamon Brown Sugar Waffles have a long name that makes me want to punch something. Good thing these taste so good. 

These are so good you don't need syrup but they run 160 Calories each waffle so eat accordingly. Let's get carb wasted!

Pioneer Cafe Ham and Cheese Omelette

Okay, so the Omelettes at Pioneer Cafe in Glendale all look alike so I have to show you these cut open to figure one from the other. 

Ham and Cheese is a classic, but that cheese is a little on the cheese sauce side of things. Not a bad meal, I'd get this again, however, there are better things on the menu. 

L & L Hawaiian Barbecue Lighter Garlic Shrimp

You're not fooling me L & L Hawaiian Barbecue. I know salad when I see it. This 'Lighter Garlic Shrimp' is shrimp salad. I mean, it's good shrimp salad, but I just couldn't get into it.   

Pioneer Cafe Chicken Burger

Now a days we have a hamburger bun but back in the day we had a dinner roll cut in half. Now, if you put it on a burger bun it's a burger and this chicken burger is that kind of thing. As far as food at the Pioneer Cafe in Glendale goes this is just possible. There are better things to order so give this a pass.  

Fiber One Breakfast Bars Lemon Bar

I feel like I've reviewed Fiber One lemon Bars before, but I can't be sure. I really need to get on the whole cataloging thing.

In any case, these are very lemony. Most people don't like their lemon bars so lemony but these have that strong flavor. They are not that filling and will help you in the restroom if you don't eat fruit. 

I am going for the fruit now days, but I have a friend who just loves these things. 

Pioneer Cafe Mushroom Omelette

When your getting down to the omelettes at Pioneer Cafe in Glendale they present a problem because they all look alike. How am I supposed to review a bunch of things that look alike? 

In any case, this is a mushroom omelette and it is much like a French crape. That is to say it's egg folded over with mushrooms inside. 

Hmm, this is kind of bland. I'd add pepper if I were you.

AMP Organic Energy Drink Tropical Burst

AMP Organic Energy Drink Tropical Burst is a combination of Orange, Mango, and Passion fruit. I don't know if it really is much of a burst. Again, AMP is more soda than it is anything else and it is great with vodka. 

I have to say that there is a lightness to AMP, and where as I do like drinking it I have never said "Gee what I really want is an AMP right now." If you can get these at a good price these are great. If you're paying as much as you would for an energy drink you are so getting ripped off. 

Pioneer Cafe Grilled Cheese

Pioneer Cafe Grilled Cheese is one of the smallest sandwiches on the menu at the Pioneer Cafe in Glendale. I have no problem with it but it doesn't make me want to order another. Then again, when you're me sized you can eat three of these no problem. 

Canada Dry Grapefruit Sparkling Seltzer Water

Canada Dry Grapefruit Sparkling Seltzer Water tastes vaguely of grapefruit. I mean, it's really oddly refreshing.  I have to say that normally people can't even give away grapefruit like this but Canada Dry has made it work. 

I'm not saying I'd make this stuff a regular buy but it really good for what it is, and I was even refreshed with a can burst in my work bag and got all over me. 

Who knew a grapefruit to the face could feel so good? That didn't come out right. 

Pioneer Cafe Avocado Salad

The Avocado Salad at the Pioneer Cafe is, well, an Avocado Salad. I mean, look at that thing! It's green. 

Pioneer Cafe Bacon Breakfast

The Bacon Breakfast at the Pioneer Cafe in Glendale is so basically American that it should come with a little flag. I will point out that Glendale has a very large Armenian population and they really should try something a little more diverse. 

After that, well, how do you comment on this? The bacon was crisp, the eggs were fluffy, and the potatoes were starchy. Merica!

V8 +Energy Sparkling Orange Pineapple

V8 +Energy Sparkling Orange Pineapple is that thing you get for your girlfriend when she wants to party all night but she's a health nut so no RedBull and Vodka. Stuff is just crying for some vodka to make it good. 

The big thing about these is that they are way smaller than most energy drinks and don't have the kick of one of their larger brothers. If you can't handle energy drinks but you need a boost these are you're jam. As for me, I think I need four of these things to keep me going. 

They taste okay but fail to hide the fact that they are V8.

Pioneer Cafe Pork Chop

Nothing says dinner like a good old Pork Chop and the one sold at the Pioneer Cafe in Glendale is as pork chop as they get. I can't say that it's better than the ones I make at home but I will say I felt like gnawing on the bone. Restaurants frown on that for some reason and as the Pioneer Cafe is family own and I was served by the owner's son I can't go gnawing on his bones to resolve the issue. That and the skinny kid has no meat on him so he wouldn't make much of a meal.

Moral here, consume the food not the staff.   

Ticlebelly Cakebars Sour Apple

Sour Apple Cakebars by Ticlebelly are a different kind of snak. The flavor is all in the frosting which feels a bit like Marzipan and the cake is just right for my coffee. 

To be honest we don't need more cake in this world...well at least I don't, but these are different enough to warrant a try. I'm not craving these things, but I'm glad I tried them.
