Fresh Donuts Red Velvet

At Fresh Donuts in La Puente, California this is the very popular red velvet. I'm going to grant that the idea of red velvet is somewhat lost on the maker of this because, of all things, the frosting is wrong. 

This is not to say that this isn't a fine doughnut. It just is a lot more simple than I would like it to be. Red Velvet should have cream cheese frosting and that would make this a good deal better.

JOJO's Guilt Free Peanut Butter Delight Dark Chocolate

JOJO's Guilt Free Peanut Butter Delight Dark Chocolate are nice little bars that go well with coffee and make you feel a bit like a hippy. I mean, I can't taste the peanut butter, but I like these all the same.

Taylor Farms Italian Chopped Salad with Salami & Cheese

Taylor Farms Italian Chopped Salad with Salami & Cheese is okay save for the onions which I can't eat raw. I never did like onions in salads but the normal onion is large enough to pick out where as these are too small. 

As a fat dude, I know I should eat more salad but I will not be eating this again. 

Crush Pineapple

When I saw there were only two bottles of Crush Pineapple left at the store I had to buy them and I'm disappointed. It really isn't tart enough to make this a worthy pineapple drink. 

I will grant this works fine with a little old crow, but I wouldn't drink it with the good stuff. 

Pierre Jumbo Spicy Chicken Breast

Who ever put the Jumbo in this Pierre Jumbo Spicy Chicken Breast has disappointed many a woman with his talk. It is not that spicy nor can the word Jumbo be applied to it. It's a hot chicken breast I guess but this is really just a B cup. Size isn't everything when it comes to breasts but it's always disappointing when they look bigger than they are.

Albert's Mexican Food #1 Bean Tostada & Beef Taco

Albert's Mexican Food in La Puente California has a #1 Bean Tostada & Beef Taco Combination Plate. I have no idea what a Tostada should be, but it looks like a flat taco. The Taco looks authentic, but in Mexico they don't use lettuce.  

In any case, I think these are better for you than a normal burger and fries. The only reason I don't eat at this place more is that you can't munch on this in your car on the way to work. Imagine the mess. I would get this again.

Athens Burgers Suicide Breakfast Burrito

Athens Burgers in Buena Park California sells a poorly named Suicide Breakfast Burrito. Sausage, bacon, and ham may be a good way to get in the ground sooner but the burrito is no bigger than other burritos they sell so I don't think it's much worse for you. 

Is is good, yeah, really good. I would eat this again and again. 

White Claw Hard Seltzer Raspberry

White Claw Hard Seltzer Raspberry drew the attention of Leo one of my foster cats. He was more impressed than I but I think I like this stuff. I'll say that it was raspberryish, and that's not bad when it comes to seltzer. I still couldn't get drunk off this, but it was refreshing. 

Tillamook Buttered Maple Pancakes Ice Cream

Tillamook Buttered Maple Pancakes Ice Cream is vanilla with pancakes in it. I mean, come on, Tillamook, where is the maple? That is not to say this is bad. Far from it, in truth I had this after a bad day at work, and it made me feel better. As ice cream goes this is good, as buttered maple pancakes go this is a fail.

Bud Light Seltzer Strawberry

Bud Light Seltzer Strawberry has the mild taste of strawberry candy but not the sugar that makes it good. What you end up with is just a bit of bug juice that can't get you drunk, but will keep you drunk if you've already gotten there. 

Fresh Donuts Ube

Fresh Donuts in La Puente California offers an Ube or Purple Yam Doughnut. This is an option with more nutrients than a normal doughnut but the fact is the things taste the same. What does that mean? I wish they would make all their doughnuts with ube and make me less of a fat monster for eating these. 

Purple plants are made purple by anthocyanins which are supposed to be good for your brain. Mmmm, brain.

Pierre Pizza Parlor Chicken Italiano

Pierre Pizza Parlor Chicken Italiano is a chicken sandwich with pizza sauce. Is that a good thing? I don't know. I'm not looking to have more of these but they aren't too bad. I mean, meh, I meh at you sandwich. 

 

El Pueblo Burger Taquitos

Over at El Pueblo Burger in the City of Industry, California you can get these Taquitos. Yeah, there not much to look at, but El Pueblo Burger is not much of a place. I mean, the place is old and run down and may not have survived the quarantine. 

There Taquitos are fine, but the whole place is just a sign of the little guy suffering in this economy. 

Johnsonville Smokey Cheddar

Johnsonville Smokey Cheddar sounds a little like something you would find in the adult section of an old video store. Well, it's a glorified hotdog in a roll. All together, the little things aren't bad, but aren't much to write home about. I know some folks will totally love these and so you should probably try one. I would buy this again. 

 

Aha Sparkling Water Lime Watermelon

Aha Sparkling Water Lime Watermelon was the most interesting water at my local store. Mostly it's lime flavored with the watermelon being an after taste. 

I can't say this is the kind of stuff I want to drink every day. It's an odd flavor that sits funny with me. Then, I got it because it was some thing new. 

This is just kind of a meh for me. I wouldn't buy it again, but I wouldn't turn it down if it was the only thing around. Then again, it may just grow on me.

Albert's Mexican Food Super Nachos

Albert's Mexican Food in La Puente California has been my go to shelter in place restaurant even as I don't shelter in place because I'm necessary staff. Their Super Nachos are my go to food being fast, filling, and oh so good. 

These days you need to get in an out of a place fast and so ordering these is great for minimal contact. They also have beans, cheese, and meat over freshly fried tortilla chips.  Mmmmm, nachos!

Soleil Blood Orange Flavored Sparkling Water Beverage

Soleil Blood Orange Flavored Sparkling Water Beverage is the kind of thing they drink in the fancy part of California. Well, that's where I picked it up anyway. I kept it in my car and kept drinking it until I ran out of it save for two cans so I have to say it goes well with most moods.

Given that I was drinking it in the cold and rain I have to say it hits the spot. Good stuff really but they are out on a limb calling it blood orange. I mean, orange is orange as fare as I can taste.

Bob's Red Mill Sorghum

Bob's Red Mill Sorghum is comparable to rice or barley, but it takes a little longer to cook and has a harder mouth feel. You need to watch your cook time with this stuff.   

As a whole grain that you haven't seen before it will liven up dinner some. Well, as much as grain really can. This is the kind of thing for folks who cook and not for folks who just eat. You kind of need to be a foody to like this.

Kit Kat Bunny Ears is like Kit Kat with more chocolate ... totally wicked!

Dove Tulips and Butterflies Dark Chocolate and Sea Salt Caramel

Sea Salt Caramel is all the rage and Dove makes one hell of a dark chocolate version of the treat. The Tulips and Butterflies printed on the foil are meant to make it more Eastery. This is good news for you because they will go on sail after Easter and you can get them for cheap. 

Well, wait a few days and eat up. 

Russell Stover Peanut Butter Easter Bunny

I did not know there was peanut butter in this Russell Stover Peanut Butter Easter Bunny until I looked at that box. At that point I had eaten the ears and left the body. The peanut butter is in the body but it's a shadow of what this should be. Fail. This was just bad.

Oreo Eggs

It is hard to describe the disappointment that is Oreo Eggs. These are kind of dry and hard and have very little of the cookie that gives them their name. There are a lot of good egg like things this time of year but these are not one of them.

Lofthouse has your Easter crappy cookie needs covered with their Spring collection here. Oversized and mildly sweet these cookies are okay, not great, but they will make you fat and shut children up.

Kellogg's Peeps Cereal

Kellogg's Peeps Cereal is an odd idea because Peeps don't normally taste like much. This cereal is just meh, and being meh you should avoid it, because it's bad for you. If you like or dislike peeps you will be disappointed by this nightmare for your waistline.

Prego Bacon Flavored Alfredo Sauce

Prego Bacon Flavored Alfredo Sauce is disappointing even for something that is just flavored. Bacon Alfredo sounds awesome. It's really too bad that this not Bacon Alfredo. It is Alfredo. I don't taste bacon, I don't feel bacon, I don't even smell bacon.   

If you want the real deal make some bacon and add it to Alfredo, and leave this stuff on the shelf, because it will let you down. 

Albert's Mexican Food Super Fries

Albert's Mexican Food in La Puente California is one of those whole in the wall places that serves the local public. There is no dish more telling of their fair than the Super Fries which you see here. 

Fries with meat, sour cream, beans, cheese, and guacamole are still very American as apposed to Mexican, but for the price you get a whole lot of food. I had better, but paid more for it. I've had worse and eaten it again.

Pasta Roni Butter & Garlic

The package to this Pasta Roni Butter & Garlic said that I should add chicken or broccoli to make this a meal. I added chicken, peas, mushrooms, and red carrots. All in all, it worked out okay. I mean, all the vegetables took a lot of the flavor away, but on the whole it was better than just eating the noodles. 

What you have here is dining for one if you don't want to mess up a pot for pasta. It's not a bad deal, and I will eat this again. 

Big AZ Country Fried Chicken with Cheese

Big AZ Country Fried Chicken with Cheese is the spicy chicken without the spice part so that you just get chicken-ish stuff. It is the more popular item in the lunch room and takes three minutes not the one the package says. 

All in all, this is sad food meant to keep you alive long enough to work but not long enough to see your grand kids grow up. I like these and will eat them again. 

Keebler Chips Deluxe Minis Original

There is just something crusty about mini cookies that make you wish you had the big ones. Well, Keebler Chips Deluxe Minis Original dunk well in coffee and taste okay. Not totally addictive like normal chocolate chip cookies but not far from that anyway.

Bud Light Seltzer Lemon Lime

Bud Light Seltzer Lemon Lime sounds like hair of the dog for those of you who are shut in and drinking. No parties with Covid 19 running around. In any case, I don't think I could even get buzzed off this stuff but it tastes all right.  I mean, lighter than beer, I would drink it if I had a bellyache.
