Fresh Donuts Ube

Fresh Donuts in La Puente California offers an Ube or Purple Yam Doughnut. This is an option with more nutrients than a normal doughnut but the fact is the things taste the same. What does that mean? I wish they would make all their doughnuts with ube and make me less of a fat monster for eating these.

Purple plants are made purple by anthocyanins which are supposed to be good for your brain. Mmmm, brain.

Purple Cauliflower

So Purple Cauliflower is like Cauliflower only purple. Who knew! It tastes about the same but is rich in anthocyanins which is the antioxidant found in red cabbage and red wine.

For those of you who don't get nutrition that means this stuff is kind of better for you than normal Cauliflower. So it's great in all aspects except for that it is still Cauliflower and as such does not take on flavor as vegetables should. Me, I like to add green garlic to this vegetable and sometimes pepper, but if you want kids to eat it add cheese or butter.
