Banquet Backyard Bbq Frozen Meal

Banquet is kind of the budget frozen dinner company I think and their Backyard Bbq Frozen Meal has the odd smell of cigarettes. I don’t know why but that’s what the smell of it reminds me of.

 

Anyway, I added raw carrots to this meal to flesh it out because these things are two small for me. I could eat three of them in one sitting but then I’m a big fat dude so you would expect that of me.

 

I could cut the “meat” with a carrot the way I slice them.

 

The big thing about these frozen “meals” is that they look like what food looked like back in 1969 when we didn’t know nutrition.  

 

Dandy's Donuts Cinnamon Roll

It was a hot day earlier this week when I walked into Dandy's Donuts in Bellflower California  to wait on the assessment of my car. The air was just turned on at the inventory was low as the elderly oriental woman took my order. 

I figured a good old Cinnamon Roll would be the order of the day and I can say that it was everything I expected. Sweet, sticky, and just like almost every cinnamon roll I've had at a shop like this. 

In short order I was back to check up on my car thinking that little places like this could really use more business. You got to love the little shops before they disappear.  
 

Costco’s Strawberry Shortcake Sundae

Costco’s Strawberry Shortcake Sundae is here for the summer and may be gone before you know it, but it's a lot of sundae for the price and a meal for a normal sized person. I'm by no means normal sized but it was still big for me and nice and cold. 

Now, understand that strawberry shortcake isn't my thing but this didn't have nearly enough fruit for me. I mean, I like my strawberry shortcake to be almost all strawberry. It could have used more shortcake as well, but I would have been more impressed with more strawberry.

This is so much ice cream that I would have split a hot dog with someone to cut the sugar and give this more flavor. 

If you're into strawberry shortcake then this is a buy, but remember it's bad for you. 

Costco Chicken Strips

When I heard on the news that Costco had Chicken Strips at their food court I had to try them. They are the most disgusting things I have ever had from the Costco Food Court. I'll grant that they don't make them fresh and I'm fine with that, but they were so very very salty. 

I will admit that it was a sweltering day in California so I was forced to take my meal inside the Costco to get out of the heat. As I walked eating this things I could feel my gut swell and I spent the rest of the day sleeping. 

I will admit that for chicken stripes these are big. I mean, twice the size of a normal strip big, but it's a double helping of Jack in the Box strips.

The dipping sauce was sweet and very good. Can't recall what kind of sauce it was but that's because I haven't had it in a time. 

I would never get this again.
 

M&M'S Honey Roasted Peanut Chocolate Candy

 Honey Roasted Peanut M&M'S remind me of Honey Nut Cheerios. I don't really know if that's what honey is supposed to taste like but the flavor of honey can really very a good deal.

Anyway, bee vomit flavored M&M's are not that bad. I mean, not too much better than peanut so as to be worth paying more for but a good solid flavor none the less.  

The best part of these is that the flavor is different enough to be worth trying but similar enough to remind me of the the old favorite.  

I make these a buy. 

Canada Dry Fruit Splash Cherry Ginger Ale

 Canada Dry is the king of Ginger Ale but their other flavors never do impress me.  Fruit Splash Cherry Ginger Ale is no exception. It tastes okay but it's just not better than the original Canada Dry.

I wouldn't get this again because it's just not that great. The cherry is overwhelmed by the ginger and where as you can taste it the flavor is not harmonious. 

I don't know if cherry and ginger go together but here it just falls flat.

Jolt Cola Energy Drink

I always wanted to try Jolt Cola back in the day but never got around to it. I didn't understand that things didn't stick around too well back in the 90s. The Energy Drink version is the best I can get and it tastes like flat soda.

This is not to say that I can keep my hands off this stuff. I don't know why, because I don't like it that much, but I keep drinking it. 

This is not to say that Jolt Cola is keeping me in the game. It's not. I had two cans, one was with vodka, and went right to sleep just like back in the day. 
 

Juvee Watermelon Lime Energy

Juvee Watermelon Lime Energy tastes of watermelon rind. I mean, only mildly, but that is what I taste. I love watermelon. I don’t so much love this but as energy drinks go it’s not that bad. I would get more to be honest. I mean, I need more energy drinks and these were a good price.

 

Bailey's Minis Cookies and Creamy Non-Dairy Liqueur Made with Oat Milk

Bailey's Minis Cookies and Creamy Non-Dairy Liqueur Made with Oat Milk are defined by that fact that you get a half glass, even with ice, of the good stuff. 

As good stuff goes it's fine. I mean, cookies and cream oat milk Bailey's sound like a sad version of the real thing but if you puck the stuff wouldn't be curdled when it comes up. 

I would call it as a good enough flavor that needs more kick to make it work, but it could be mistaken for thinned out Baily's.

Look, I recommend this stuff in the bottle, but the minis are just coffee cream that you can't drink before work. 
 

Oscar Mayer Deli Fresh Chipotle Seasoned Chicken Breast

Oscar Mayer Deli Fresh Chipotle Seasoned Chicken Breast was on sale and so I picked up three packs and fed one to my cats. They barfed it up then ate the barf. You just got to love the little fur balls. 

Anyway, they appear to like this stuff because when I opened the second pack the followed me around asking for more. As for me, it was okay. I didn't taste a lot of flavoring but then I didn't grill it up as I normally do with lunch meat. 

They had more flavor than I would have expected and were the kind of meat that is tender and easy to rip. I had no trouble finishing this product off but honestly wouldn't look to get it again. 
 

Slurpee Mountain Dew Confetti Chill

Slurpee Mountain Dew Confetti Chill is a cream soda line flavor. It's good for what it is, but I'd still rather have a Coke Slurpee. Then again, I'd just put water in a Slurpee machine if I had one to beat the heat.

All in all, I can dig this. If you drop in for a cold one every now and then this is a flavor to try. Not going to miss it but glad it was there. 

  

Mtn Dew Purple Thunder

Mountain Dew Purple Thunder is raspberry plumb soda. I don’t know who asked for that but they shouldn’t have. It's not something worth the calories of a soda and normal Mountain Dew tastes much better. 

I wouldn't drink this stuff again. It just wasn't very good.

Lenny & Larry's Big Time Brownie

Lenny & Larry's Big Time Brownie are cookies for those of you who want to get your pump on. They taste like mud for those of you who like cookies. If you eat nothing but greens and hard boiled eggs all day then you will taste the sugar. 

The big problem with these is that they don't fit into the American diet which has so much sugar it would stun a early human. Yet, if you have a high sugar diet these will taste bad.

I would say, vegans and gym heads would love this cookie. The rest of us will find it repulsive.  

Health food isn't a bad thing if it is close enough to the real thing. These just aren't close enough. 
 

AriZona Hard Cowboy Cocktail Kiwi Strawberry

AriZona Hard Cowboy Cocktail Kiwi Strawberry had too little strawberry and should only be a thing on a hot day for the young and dumb. This is a meh flavor and a light alcohol.

I would never drink this for the taste, and yet I would never drink this to get drunk... Then again, I don't drink to get drunk, but this is still a fail.  
 

M&M's Peanut Butter and Jelly Candy

These Peanut Butter and Jelly M&M's sat in my refrigerator for months until I finally broke down and tried them. In all fairness I've been having a bad time of it and struggling to keep this blog online. 

Anyway, these are a really solid addition to the M&M's family. They taste like grape jelly with the peanut butter but they could use more peanut butter flavor to be honest. 

I don't think I would ever trade these for milk chocolate or peanut but I would say that I wouldn't be mad if I got more of them. These are charming and a solid enough candy to be worth trying. 

 
 

Jack in the Box Bacon Ultimate Cheeseburger

I can’t tell you how many Jack in the Box Bacon Ultimate Cheeseburgers I had before I found myself in the hospital with a thumb that looked like a potato. Post op I stopped eating these things but one came up free on the Jack in the Box app.

 

In any case, this microwave monstrosity is a good amount of bad burger for those of you who don’t think much of the stuff you put in your face. They can make me sick from all the salt but most of the time I eat one and just want more, again likely because of all that salt.

 

Eat in moderation. This is second run fast food so you will be doing yourself a favor by keeping clear.

 

Ironic T'rump Fortune Cookies

 Ironic T'rump Fortune Cookies come in red, white, and blue or cherry, coconut, and blueberry. The fortunes are not all that funny statements that you only get if you hate Trump and follow the memes. I'm no Trump fan so I get the jokes but wasn't impressed. 

Anyway, I can't recommend this product because it's not great. One of the cookies didn't even have a fortune in it, and a good number of them were broken.  

This is fun, sure, but not a lot of fun and overpraised for what you get.  

Sour Patch Kids Red White & Blue Theater Box

 The Sour Patch Kids Red White & Blue Theater Box is something off a mystery to me as I can't figure why this was at a Dollar Tree and not a movie theater. These come in other bags and the like but why make these so that they are something you can eat at a theater without making sound. 

Anyway, as the box says they come in red, white, and blue. I think red is the much beloved cherry, which is the most loved of any flavor. Why do we all love cherry? White is lemon. It has to be lemon. Blue I think is blue raspberry.   

I'm not a big fan of Sour Patch Kids but I have to admit they last long in my work bag and when you run out of everything else they are worth eating. I wouldn't get these again, but I won't toss them out.

Let's Get Ready To Rumble Energy Original tastes a lot like Monster and looks like piss, also like monster I guess. It works find and is otherwise nothing to write home about. 

I mean, it's a lot like Monster. 
 

Stars & Stripes Cola

Stars & Stripes Cola was a thing I heard about but hadn’t tried until now. I knew a man who worked at the 99 Cents Only store back around the turn of the millennium and he would by this stuff and call it “Ulcer Cola”. Finally seeing it at the Dollar Tree I had to try some and I have to admit it was better than I thought it would be.

Stuff wasn’t bad at all. It was almost as good as good old Coke. I would never have mistaken it for Pepsi but as soda goes it was really worth it for the price.
