Pillsbury Cornbread Swirls

 Only in a world of these odd bread tubes do you get Pillsbury Cornbread Swirls. They are kind of like cornbread muffins only, well, swirly. 

These are about as good as what you would buy in store only fresh and hot as apposed to what you would make at home. The home version for me was always sweeter and had more of a crumble. 

Still, these are an interesting solid addition to any dinner party. I would always recommend cooking them a few times for your family before making them for friends because you need to get used to how to cook them.  

They would also be a great addition to an afternoon tea. Served with butter and honey or jam they are a good product to have on hand. 

I shouldn't get any more, because I'm a fat monster who should stop eating all bread products, but you get the idea. 

Tyson Original Chicken Breast Sliders

 Tyson Original Chicken Breast Sliders are a sad shell of what they look like on the box. I mean, look at all that chicken like substance on the box art then look at the stuff in the real slider. You get half of what is promised or maybe they just used bigger buns. 

Serving chicken this crappy to a small party would really say "I drink cheep booze" to your guests. I would expect you to spice these up for company because they are bland, but man are they low quality.

Michelina's Penne with White Chicken

 Michelina's Penne with White Chicken is another bland small offering from Michelina's that I got on sale which made them the price I used to get them at before the pandemic. 

I always thought of Michelina's as snacks for poor people and these provide about half a meal for a normal human. Add vegetables and water and you have a whole meal. I would also add pepper and the like but that's just me. 

I would say these are agreeable when on sale and a little overpriced when not. If you live alone and you eat alone these are fine but they are food for the lonely.

McDonald's Double Quarter Pounder with Cheese

It's kind of hard to believe that it's taken me so long to try the McDonald's Double Quarter Pounder with Cheese. I don't really explore the menu at the golden arches and so I don't know if I've ever eaten one of these before. 

Not that I was missing all that much. I mean, that was a lot of beef like substance but it was short on flavor. It needed more condiments. 

Bigger is not always better and this is bigger but not better. It's fine as burgers go but if I were to eat it again, and I may, I would put more ketchup on it to give it a little more taste.
 

Victor Allen's Snickers Iced Coffee

 Come on world, Snickers is not a flavor. It is a mix of flavors and textures that makes a snickers bar and you can't put that in a iced coffee without a blender. This is not to say that Victor Allen's Snickers Iced Coffee is bad. It is as good as any mix of chocolate, sugar, and coffee. It could use more coffee but I wouldn't think of snickers had I not seen the label.

Cookie Pop Popcorn Oreo

Oreo Popcorn buy Cookie Pop is what it sounds like.Why you would flavor popcorn with cookies is a question that is hard to answer. Maybe it's better for you. 

Anyway, stuff isn't bad, I would rather have more of it than Oreo Cookies to be honest. The only thing is that now that I tried it I have to try something else so Oreo Cookies it is. 

Your kids may be happy to find this in their lunchbox, but make sure you put something healthy in there along with it. 
 

Starbucks Pumpkin Cream Cheese Muffin

Starbucks Pumpkin Cream Cheese Muffin is a featured fall offering that sounds really good. The muffin top is really good but once you eat past that part there is really little in the way of appeal to the pastry. 

I can't say it's bad. I can't say it's good. In a world were I would sit down and have one of these with strong coffee it would be something I would look forward to. To start my day I would say it needs more cream cheese.
 

Hard Frescos Beer Guava Citrus

 If Hard Frescos Guava Citrus is really a beer it is beer by a thin definition. The Guava is more pronounced than the citrus giving it a funk and after taste that makes it, well, meh. 

I don't mind this stuff. I mean, if you're a hard drinker this is smooth and goes down easy but it isn't what I would drink for taste. It is refreshing and not bitter but still not great. 

McDonald's Happy Meal Toy Tails 2

 This thing is a McDonald's Happy Meal Toy. Tails 2 I think. I have no idea really but it was in my happy meal last night. Don't look at me like that, I write a blog about stuff like this. 

Anyway, if you're not a sonic fan this thing looks rather silly and I first thought it was a Pokémon I wasn't familiar with. I have to admit that I don't think this is cool but I don't know much about these kinds of things. 

 

Michelina's Beef & Broccoli

 Michelina's Beef & Broccoli has a lot of flavor for having almost nun of the name ingredients. Do you see any broccoli in there?

The real show case on this one is the sauce which is Asian inspired and has a strong hint of ginger. Those are Italian style noodles. 

This works best as a topper for steamed vegetables and may work as a side dish at your next family meal. I wouldn't eat this one it's own because it will just make you more hungry and these things are so small that they never fill you up.

Del Taco BBQ Brisket Quesadilla

The new Del Taco BBQ Brisket Quesadilla is one oily meal that should never be eaten in your car. Just looking at the picture I want another one which is a pitfall of being a big fat dude. I'm not even sure I liked it that much. There was a drippy amount of sauce to go with the oil and the brisket fell out at spots. 

All in all, this is something worth trying if you have the time to sit down and eat it rather than eating in your car. I would also say, wash your hands before and after eating this. You will get goop all over your hands and if there is something on your hands the wetness will get it into your food.

Keebler Grasshopper Mint Chocolate Pie Crust

Keebler Grasshopper Mint Chocolate Pie Crust isn't made with real grasshoppers. In fact, I don't think there are any bugs inside this pie crust at all. False advertising. 

It is mint chocolate with a very mild mint taste that one may miss if not pointed out. This does limit the use of this crust as the pie it may contain needs to match with both mint and chocolate. 

Still, not bad really.
 

Subway Club Sandwich

 The Subway Club Sandwich has ham, turkey, and roast beef. It is normally topped with provolone cheese and your choice of vegetables. This one looks a little mangled because the subway I got it at was just about to close and short on supplies. 

Subway is supposed to have revamped their whole menu and this is the first time I've been there since the pandemic. I have to say that I don't see much of a difference. I still don't trust their lettuce.  

I will also say that Subway was on the pricey side but I guess that if you want fresh food you need to pay a little more for it. 

All and all, I would get this again but I don't think I'll be dropping by Subway as often as I used to. 

Norm's Famous Charbroiled Burgers Bacon Avocado Cheeseburger

It being cheeseburger day I guess I should review a cheeseburger and having never been to Norm's Famous Charbroiled Burgers in uptown Whittier on Whittier Blvd that was the place to go. This is the Bacon Avocado Cheeseburger. I got it with no thousand island and no onions but it has pickles, lettuce, and tomato. 

It's a burger. Nothing too interesting about it. I'll grant I love burgers, should eat them less often, and this one was nice and big and fresh. However, I can't say that the world famous name is all that warranted. 

At this place you find a little diner that survived the great pandemic but little more. Not bad food but it doesn't stand out.
 

Golden Star Coconut Jasmine Rice

Golden Star Coconut Jasmine Rice looks like rice but feels like mush. I mean, it has no flavor of coconut and is kind of like sticky rice. I would rather have sticky rice, but I would rather have almost every rice I have ever had over this stuff. How do you screw up rice this bad?!
 

Starbucks Double-Smoked Bacon, Cheddar & Egg Sandwich

 Starbucks Double-Smoked Bacon, Cheddar & Egg Sandwich sounds like a cure to a hangover. It sounds better than it tastes and it is small. Then at 500 calories its good with an apple or a banana. Have it with fruit is what I'm saying. 

To be fair, this is a moderately balanced half meal that would go very well with a fruit smoothie that isn't too sugary. It will get your body up an moving on a hard morning. 

We don't have hard mornings so much in LA. More hard afternoons where a cold smoothie, a cold brew, and generally anything cold will give you the get up and go for the rest of the day.  

Anyway, microwaved sandwich thing is okay. 

Colliders REESE'S Refrigerated Dessert

 Colliders REESE'S Refrigerated Dessert is somewhat underwhelming. The Reese's part is just not as strong as it should be leading to the mediocrity of this snack. I feel the pieces should have been bigger and so the flavor should have been stronger. 

I can't say this is bad but I can't say it is as good as it can be. 

CUT by Hydroxycut Weight Loss + Energy Drink Orange Mango Pineapple

 CUT by Hydroxycut Weight Loss + Energy Drink Orange Mango Pineapple has got to be the best zero calorie energy drink I have ever tasted. I don't know if it promotes weight loss but I got a case of this stuff at a discount, and it's delicious. 

I would never have guessed this was zero calorie. It tastes great and works okay. I think I'm immune to caffeine at this point. I often have an energy drinks shortly before bed. I drink way too many of these. 

Win!

Atkins Chicken & Broccoli Alfredo

Atkins Chicken & Broccoli Alfredo is chicken with broccoli and Alfredo sauce. There isn't much of it and there is even less broccoli which is what will fill you up with this meal. 

There is enough chicken but this really needs to be a green food to fill you up. Otherwise it's just a snack. 

I would also say that it is on the bland side and could use some pepper but I guess pepper is more than I was paying for.  

I got these because they were on sale in the local market, and I figured they were good for me. I would get more, but I don't think I would buy them at full price. 

Not bad, just not much.

Starbucks Iced Apple Crisp Oatmilk Shaken Espresso

 Starbucks Iced Apple Crisp Oatmilk Shaken Espresso is a bold lie in a cup. It tasted like watery iced coffee with no espresso, almost no apple, and there was no crisp to be detected. 

I never thought of putting coffee in cider, it would give you that crisp flavor, but it have still not had that experience.  

I almost get the urge to try to make one of these at home and see what it would be like to honestly try this idea, because the idea is so poorly executed.  

 Fail!

Bourbon Brothers Sliced Bbq Smoked Sausage

 Bourbon Brothers Sliced Bbq Smoked Sausage is a lot of packing for a moderate amount of sausage. It isn't scorched, and it has little texture. I would say that it's spicy but spicy isn't enough to justify what ends up in the landfill. 

I mean, these are okay but I tried heating them up in a frying pan and they didn't fry up all that well. 

If you don't mind eating them out of the box and you don't have other options they are fine. Me, I'd like real sausage.

McDonald's Peanut Butter Crunch McFlurry

 McDonald's Peanut Butter Crunch McFlurry is something of a letdown. I'm not a big fan of the McFlurry or anything that McDonald's tries to pass off as a milk product but the 'crunch' wasn't crunchy and the peanut butter was almost completely lost in the mix. 

The 'ice cream' tasted like nothing. You can skip this stale sad excuse for a McFlurry. You should keep clear of McFlurrys to start with, but this one is bad.  

Streit's Low Sodium Potato Pancake Mix

 It's been at least thirty five years since I tried potato pancakes. At least I think it has been, but I'm not sure if I even tried them. My mother was the Jewish side of my family and she passed away when I was young. My old man hated anything about family history and took my mother's Jewish things to his new wife's house. 

Thus, when I ran into Streit's Low Sodium Potato Pancake Mix at a dollar twenty nine a box I figured this was a good time to try them again. It was a great deal after all.  Then I had no idea how one serves a latke.  

Take it into mind that this mix was rather old, but I had to add more water to make it battery. I also had to flatten them with a flipper to get them into the right shape. I may have used too little oil. 

Anyway, I can't figure why these are a festival food as they don't have that much flavor to them. Maybe it was the low sodium part that made the difference.  

I found these to be mild but filling, and I even had to lay down afterwards and let them settle. I think I ate too much. I can't really say if these are good or bad, because I have so little experience with them. However, I can say that they make potato pancakes which is what one wants out of this mix.

Starbucks Bacon, Gouda & Egg Sandwich

 Starbucks' Bacon, Gouda & Egg Sandwich is missing its Oxford comma. It isn't large and will leave you wanting more, but then you just got a five dollar drink didn't you?

Coffee can make you fat so this sandwich is under four hundred calories. It's not bad but didn't stand out to me.

Better Made Potato Sticks

Better Made Potato Sticks are what would happen if you had fries and chips make a baby. They taste like chips, and they are really, but they are sticks. So, yeah, simple thing.

I don't mind them, but I think I do like normal chips better. 
 

Classico Roasted Red Pepper Alfredo Pasta Sauce

 Classico Roasted Red Pepper Alfredo Pasta Sauce has no heat. I mean, it's creamy like Alfredo should be but the flavor is rather mild and without heat. I would have thought it would be hot having read pepper.

Anyway, it's also rather smooth and creamy without chunks of red pepper inside so it has the same feel as most Alfredo. I feel this is a strong product but not what I expected.

Hot Pocket Deli Wich Thaw or Heat Turkey & Colby

 Hot Pocket Deli Wich Thaw or Heat Turkey & Colby is a simple option that will not drip like your hot pocket but will be much smaller. 

I don't know what I feel about these. I mean, I do like them but don't trust them thawed because if they're not thawed all the way they aren't good. 

Still, they taste good, could be bigger, but they do taste good.

Pillsbury Grands Flaky Layers Original Biscuits

 Pillsbury Grands Flaky Layers Original Biscuits are the most basic of the Pillsbury Grands family. They feature almost nothing in the way of flavor inviting you to add stuff like butter or jelly to them. 

It comes to me that it's funny to even review a product like this as they have been a part of the American zeitgeist for so long. I mean, most of us have had them at some point or other and they have inspired so many knock offs that it's hard to keep track.  

Still, if you're looking for flavor you don't buy these. These Grands are a warm biscuit to put your butter on and nothing more. 

Monster Assault

Monster Assault is some kind of cherry cola flavored drink. I don't know why they're not more popular to be honest. I remember running in to these more than ten years ago and liking them but never seeing them again. 

I saw them again at the dollar store and got three, drank them all, and got the last three they had to make my review. 

They are no orange monster but they are good. 
 

X2 Endurance Fruit Punch

X2 Endurance Fruit Punch doesn't live up to it's name. The flavor of punch is mostly an aftertaste. This doesn't taste bad, but it fails to have the flavor of its name. 

This stuff is okay and I would get it again if I needed the caffeine and it was around. Not bad, but could be better.
 

Girl Scouts Lemon-Ups

 Girl Scouts Lemon-Ups are shortbread lemon cookies. If you like that sort of thing they're fine. I mean, I have to admit that I don't much like girl scout cookies to start with and I only buy them because I feel bad for the girls who have to sell them. 

Why can't I ever get one with a hot mom who is single and into fat dudes? Anyway, these are okay but not great.

La Brea Bakery Everything Rolls

 La Brea Bakery Everything Rolls are good as a starter and good as a small sandwich bread to have with tea. I'll bet you can also make some killer sliders with them. 

I really think these are some nice rolls. You should share them with your friends.
