When I was a boy Pioneer Chicken was a place my family went for dinner. Now with only two locations left in Southern California (LA and Bell Gardens) I had almost forgotten the place.
Well, I never had their fish and chips before but it's good fish and chips. The fish is not too fishy and the chips are nice and crisp. In fact, just looking at these makes me want to go back there and have more. Too bad next time I have to try something new.
Heineken is okay beer. I get it for cooking my fish. It will take the fishy taste right out of it and make the fish taste fresh. Past that I feel it's on the bitter side but has a great head on the draft.
The Artful Dodger at Maggie's Pub is fish, shrimp, and chips. I have to say I could have used more shrimp but other than that very good.
So the Winston Churchill is a fish and fritters with slaw. I wouldn't pick this over fish and chips, but it was one of the cheaper meals on the menu and is meant to be had with beer.
I wouldn't get this again mostly because there are better things on the menu. Still, it was very good.
