Mimo’s Café Coffee

At Mimo’s Café in Uptown Whittier California. It isn’t bad coffee, and it isn’t the best coffee I’ve had but as coffee goes it works just fine. There are a number of things you can put in that coffee. They have white and blond sugar. I’d say this is nice. I would order it again and I’m picky over my coffee.

Mimo’s Café Red Chilaquiles & Eggs

I’ve driven by Mimo’s Café in Uptown Whittier California a thousand times and I may have gone there once. That would have been more than twenty years ago and it may not even have the same name. I noted that the staff was friendly, and the customers knew what they wanted before ordering indicating that the people who ate there were regulars.

I had no idea what to order here so I was directed to the morning menu and found Chilaquiles & Eggs. It turns out that there are red Chilaquiles and green Chilaquiles with the green have more kick than the red. Not being ready to spend the day on the toilet I chose red and so had a nice quiet morning eating this plate of eggs, rice, beans, and fried flour tortillas dipped in red stuff.

The food was unoffensive. I can’t say that it wowed me but it was good food in a good place. You can eat inside or in the open air and I had been there just after a rain, so the air was clean and sweet. All that was missing was a good friend to eat with.  Good times.

Cracker Barrel Black Ribbon California Smoked Provolone Cheese Slices

Cracker Barrel Black Ribbon California Smoked Provolone Cheese Slices lack the normal shape of provolone and have a stronger, more cheddar like, flavor. This is sharper than normal provolone and stands up well in a sandwich.

I can't say I taste the smoke flavor much, but then I grill my lunch meat. I don't know what there really is to say about fancy pants cheese. Good stuff, yeah, I would get it again.

Mr. Giant California Beef Burrito with Red Sauce

On historic Whittier Boulevard in Whittier's historic uptown you can find 'Mr. Giant' a small Mexican diner that serves this burrito. This is their California Burrito with Beef and Red Sauce to be clear and its stuffed with Beef, rice, beans, french fries, and the like. This has onion in it and where as normally onions make me sick these onions were sweet and mild.

I have to say I will be trying other things at Mr. Giant but I recommended this to people because it's a good deal and good food.

California Premium Organic Monterey Jack Cheese

The Rumiano Cheese Company isn't big on putting it's name on this California Premium Organic Monterey Jack Cheese. I can't see why, this is good cheese. It has a sharp flavor that is both unoffensive but strong enough to be present on a mild sandwich.

I will say that this would be overwhelmed by even normal yellow mustered.  Then I think that's just Monterey Jack Cheese.

Kirkland Signature 2015 California Pinot Grigio

Kirkland Signature 2015 California Pinot Grigio is a white wine that tastes okay. It's not totally dry, but not at all sweet.

Look, I don't get the whole wine thing. I mean, I thought wine was that thing my sister was always doing. It turns out that was whine, not wine, who knew?

Anyway, I will drink this if the choice is to die of thirst and I plan to use it to cut stronger alcohols, but I wouldn't buy it again.

Outback Steakhouse Wood-Grilled California Chicken Sandwich

Outback Steakhouse's "Wood-Grilled California Chicken Sandwich" is a lot of chicken for one sandwich. It runs about ten bucks and that's about what you would pay for a large sandwich anywhere else. I have to grant that this is what you order if someone drags you to Outback and you wish to be more economical.

Still, I found this to be filling and worth eating.

California Grill & Bar Steamed Vegetables and Garlic Bread

My understanding of a vegetable is a leaf, stalk, or stem. This is carrots which is a root and zucchini which is a fruit. So with no vegetables in these vegetables and no spice or other flavorings they fall short of good. the garlic bread is okay but you put it all together and the food is just sub par.

This is just one of those things that tries to trick you into thinking it's healthy when it's just a lesser evil.
