Trader Joe's 'Fair Trade Organic Guatemalan Coffee' is an extra dark roast which is normally my favorite kind. The thing about this coffee is that the smell is less than encouraging and the flavor is far more delicate than that of other coffees.
If you have a dark setting on your coffee maker don't use it with this brew. This coffee will also oxidize faster than other coffees which will make it taste burnt faster.
This is a great coffee for the mixer or coffee with sugar drinker, but for those of us who have it black it's best to look else where. So drop in some Irish Cream to make this a top notch experience.
If you order eggs at the Pioneer Cafe they come with the potatoes. Yeah, these are definitely potatoes and past the green onions they are unseasoned so that you, the diner, can choose how you like them. I like to add pepper.
If you're having breakfast before your trip to Universal Studios you may stop in to the Pioneer Cafe in Glendale, and have yourself some wheat toast.
This would be a good idea, because wheat is more filling then white and, like most things at the Pioneer Cafe, this is an unoffensive food. I would recommend you make good use of the jelly these come with, because I think that butter is unsalted.
That's the basic thing I find about the Pioneer Cafe is that they make food more designed to be seasoned by the diner than by the chef. It's an odd choice, but I keep going back for more.
Trader Joe's Chocolate Sunflower Seed Drops are a sweet with an old time feel that are best had over ice cream. I love these things which is why I can't buy them that often because I eat them all.
Given that I let ice cream sit around for months in my freezer that really says something.
The White Fish dinner at Pioneer Cafe in Glendale comes with your choice of soup. I just need to make that one clear.
Now, out of the kitchen the white fish has an earthy flavor but once you add the lemon and a bit of pepper it becomes a truly enjoyable meal. I've been told the mushroom steak is the best thing on the menu, but this is the best I've had so far.
I will say the gravy could have been a bit more seasoned, and there could have been more of it, but that white fish was totally killer.
Pioneer Cafe's Beef and Barley Soup is served piping hot and may need to be let cool just a bit. Otherwise, I would have like there to be more beef in this, but it was a good starter to a great meal.
I would recommend this stuff particularly after drinking as it will help with the hangover.
With a Firehouse sub in front of you it's easy to forget about that Pickle Spear. Well, don't because it's there for good reason.
It's a palate cleanser that permits you to better taste that sandwich. take a bite every now and then. It will make your whole meal better.
Doritos Blaze is a flavor of Doritos that are designed to be like drinking bad tequila. I didn't finish eating them they were so bad.
Have been to the Pioneer Cafe in Glendale, met the owner and his son, and had a great time more than once, I think I can say this place is good. The Ice Tea is just that, Ice Tea, and it is unsweetened and simple so as to give diners a relief from the hustle and bustle of Glendale and the business of Southern California.
When I go to the Pioneer Cafe I normally get the ice tea.
I've lived around Mr. Giant my whole life and only recently went in and tried the place. I guess I know why. The food is good but not really something to remember.
Take the 'Taquitos Platter' here and know that the taquitos are everything I want in a taquito being crunchy and all. The guacamole is just how I like it being mild and unoffensive, so if you want this spicy you need to make it that way.
Now remember that 'Platter' is in the name so those rice and beans need to be taken into account, and they are about as boring as rice and beans can be and still be Mexican.
Look, not only am I white, but I'm American, and I make rice and beans with more flavor than these have. Add some pepper or something if you get these. Now if I were British the cook would have just felt that in the balls.
Even with all their faults, I'm still so ordering this again.
'Made with real hibiscus flavor' exclaims the label on this Juicy Whip Rica Jamaica, and it inspires no confidence in me. The word 'flavor' has been used to make things that no self respecting carbon based life form should eat.
In any case, this stuff was fruity. I can't say much else for it, but it was fruity.
Cafe Valley Bakery Lemon Iced Cake is one of those things I shouldn't buy, because it's just right for coffee. As a cake it's fine, just fine, not great but fine. Then you get this stuff with your coffee and suddenly your in heaven.
I took one of these to work and folks said this had a stronger lemon flavor than most lemon iced cakes. I did get a few bits of lemon zest in my mouth. I could have done without that.
Peace Tea Sweet Lemon Tea is what happens when people say, 'well, we need one in regular'. This tastes like lemon tea all right and it's about as normal as normal tea can be. That's not a bad thing it's just there is no reason to buy this over other lemon teas unless you can get it for less.
As you can see the Firehouse Subs Firehouse Steak and Cheese Sub has what passes for stake in the lunch meat department but has far too little cheese. These things normally come with bell peppers and onions which I don't care for.
Now this sub was okay, not great, but okay.
If you want to really make one of these you need to grill the steak, and that didn't happen here.
AMC is going the distance in trying to get more money out of the public and one of their ideas is these Chicken and Waffle Sandwiches. You may want to by a drink when you get this, it's dry, but be forewarned that soda will counteract the natural sweetness of the crystallized maple like stuff in the waffles.
All in all, not bad.
I came across Baileys Strawberries and Cream at Target, of all places, and I had to try a bottle. This stuff is a little harsher than Baileys and it does taste like strawberries sort of.
If you're going to try this have it over ice cream or with milk because it's a little on the bitter side. I may just make a hard milkshake with this stuff.
The only way I can describe Juicy Whip Rico Tamarindo is that it has a very strong flavor of tea. Tamarindo is a tree that gives off these bean things that I guess are used to make this stuff.
So, if you ever say 'this tea is so bland I would like to crew the leaves' then this stuff is what you've been looking for.
Mr. Giant Super Nachos with Beef aren't so super. These things were soggy and not that great, but they were filling and they tasted okay. I wouldn't get these again because of those soggy chips.
AMC theaters now offers these small turd like Pretzel Bites and you can get them doused with Cinnamon and Sugar. This would be a bad idea because the Cinnamon and Sugar doesn't really stick to the pretzel and your hands get messy as you eat them.
This is a movie theater snack and nasty hands are a big problem. The dipping stuff also doesn't get on the pretzel all that well.
I wouldn't get these again.
Jollibee Rice is, well, white rice. Not much to say about it. I mean, rice is a pallet cleanser so ordering it may help you to taste your food. It is very filling. Still, not much to say about rice.
Even as I did not order mashed potatoes I got a side of Jollibee Gravy. Sadly there was nothing in this to make me Jolly. This is not to say there was anything wrong with the gravy, but it had no kick to it and was very forgettable.
I couldn't find the ketchup so I used the gravy instead. Now I appreciate ketchup so much more.
Jollibee French Fries have the distinction of being something that exists. That's about all I can say for them. Then again, what does one say about french fries.
The Jollibee Vanilla Cone Twirl is soft serve ice cream that doesn't stand up on its own so you need to eat it first. This will prove to be a vary bad idea if you've already had a sip of soda.
If you drink soda before the ice cream then you'll have trouble tasting the ice cream.
Other than that, meh, not much going on here.
I ran into Jollibee when in Los Angeles and decided to try the chicken. This is good chicken, a little greasy, but the skin was crunchy and it had a good flavor.
I don't think KFC has any worries about it's place as the top chicken related artery clogger, but Jollibee is different so worth a try.
I was at In & Out Burger the other day and decided to try this Pink Lemonade. I can't say much for it other than it's better than the Minute Made Light variety.
It wasn't very cold when I put it over ice and it didn't get cold quickly. I mean, the stuff is okay, but not great.
In & Out Burger offers a burger without meat, and people call that a grilled cheese. I had to try this because I have to try everything that In & Out sells and I'll grant that if beef is not your thing this is not bad, but it's not really a grilled cheese.
Who puts thousand island on a grilled cheese sandwich?!
Minute Maid Light Lemonade is the kind of thing people drink in spring to say they are trying to get that summer body. As for me, I hate this stuff and think I'd rather have lemon water.
Now, lemon is good for losing weight, because it will give your body a fat burning boost. Just keep in mind that when you dump crap in your guts that nature didn't make it can be hard on your organs.
This watery stuff isn't offensive just not worth drinking.
Caddy Shack flavored Peace Tea tastes nothing like a caddy shack. Then again, I have no idea what a caddy shack should taste like so maybe it does. The real question is: why would you flavor something like a caddy shack.
What you're looking at here is a hundred and sixty Calories of apple lemon tea. That makes it a great deal less Calories than soda per ounce. So, if you're looking to get that summer body but you can't have artificial sweeteners because they come out your rear end as this red oily stuff this is better than soda. Tastes okay.
Arya Curcumin+ is seltzer water that tastes like very little and serves to get the flavor of bad spirits thinned out. As this is low in calorie and high in color I would have to say I like the fact that this exists.
I'm not going to put it on my buy list, but this stuff is worth having around when you want to look impressive but not get fat.
Whitman's Sampler Assorted Chocolates 1.75 oz is normal chocolate rapped in Easter paper. This is a bad idea for gifts to children, but I bet if you get half a dozen of these and leave a few in places your girl can find she just may think it sweet or think your a cheapskate for buying her so small a box of chocolates.
You can't win with these.
